PRODUCTS - OUR CONTROLLERS

(Our Electronics Engineer, configuring a multi-channel system)
- Our controllers were the first to use PWM (pulse width modulation) to control battery voltage or limit top output.
- Our controllers have no history of catastrophic failures. In the two years since Westwind being in the UK we have not been ask for a single controller replacement part.
- Our controller uses very highly rated components (more than necessary to insure component protection).
- The smoothing capacitors have always been rated at higher temperatures than our competitors. This extends their life at least four fold.
- We use IGBTs that are seriously over rated and are at least six times the cost of most of our competitors. We have no idea how long they will last as we have never had a failure in normal use to give us a guideline.

In line with our policy of "keep it simple" we use the minimal amount of wiring within our controllers.
- We use properly rated cable in our controllers and our controllers are not built solely with red and black wire.
- We use simple connection system terminals, of correct size, with different coloured terminations for ease of installation.
- We use over voltage protection in all our controllers (therefore no more failures like some competitors)
- We do not use any components with memory and need programming, so there will be no components to need rebooting.
- We only use analogue meters.
- Our circuit boards are not so incredibly fragile, so they can be handled and worked with easily. There are also no strange or bespoke components used.
- Westwind offer a range of controllers for 48v 120v 240v variations.
- We offer dedicated grid, charging, heat (even 100% heat system for the 20kw) and 50/50 systems for grid/heat/charging etc beyond anything we have ever seen.
- There is a multi-channel controller for heating, this is a huge benefit for those wanting a heating turbine. This is knowledge gained from our installer days when we could never get anything other than "basic", so we created this system.
- When purchased together, all our controllers and generators are ran together on our dyno for test and setup. We do not know of any other manufacturer that checks their systems in such detail.
